As we embark on teacher appreciation week, I want to take a moment to thank our teaching staff for all that they do for the students in the Watkins Glen Central School District. As author Todd Whitaker says, “The best thing about being a teacher is that it matters. The hardest thing about being a teacher is that it matters every day.”
If you have a message of appreciation that you or child would like to share about your child’s teacher, please email me at kdalleva@wgcsd.org. You can share a picture, short video, or message. Messages will be shared to our District social media accounts. Messages can be general or teacher specific.

School District Climate and Culture Survey:
As we did in the fall, we are partnering with BrightBytes to learn more about our school’s climate and culture. We would like you to take part in our school survey. Your participation is essential to help us form a complete picture of your child’s experience at school and will help us make decisions about where to focus our efforts to improve the school for everyone. All responses will remain anonymous to protect your privacy.
The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to complete. The last day to submit responses to this survey is 5.8.2022.

COVID-19 Updates:
Our community infection-rate level has moved from the medium/yellow zone to the high/red zone. However, no changes to our current conditions are required. We want to reiterate that the best thing that we can do is to remain home if you are sick.
Calendar Update:
With Spring in the air, I feel that it is safe to announce the following change. Four emergency days were built into our 21-22 school calendar. We have used three. Barring any unforeseen emergencies, we will use this day on Friday, May 27, 2022, adding an additional day off to Memorial Day Weekend. In addition to May 30th, students will not attend school on May 27th. If you have any questions regarding this calendar change, please contact your Child’s Main Office.
Budget Hearing and Vote Reminder:
- Our Budget Hearing is this Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at 5:30PM in the HS Library.
- Our Budget Vote is Tuesday, May 17, 2022 in the District Board of Education Room.
