Hello Watkins Glen School Community!
I hope this message finds you happy and healthy as we enter the Spring season. Below are a few updates for our school community.
Senior Play Reminder:
As we prepare for the Senior Play, I find myself in a very reflective mood, as this was the first large event that we had to cancel in the Spring of 2020. I am reflecting on that group of students that worked so hard, but had their show cancelled before anyone could see their final product. I reflect on the group of students that missed out entirely on this event last year. We remain hopeful that we will never have to go through that again, and we are very grateful that we can offer this opportunity to our students and community this year. There was a time when I did not think that we would be able to do it!

Conference Day Update:
On Monday, our staff took part in a full day of professional learning with a representative from McTighe and Associates. Our staff focused on developing authentic performance assessments to evaluate student learning. One of my favorite quotes from the day was when our presenter stated, “students should be presumed innocent of understanding until convicted by evidence!” While I understand it is stressful and challenging to have students at home for a day, please know that our time is used to improve our overall practice to benefit our students.
2022-23 School Calendar:
With budget season in full swing and warmer weather approaching, planning for next school year has begun. With that said, we are excited to release the recently approved 2022-2023 one-page calendar. Please click here to access the calendar for next school year. Our hope is that this calendar will assist in your planning.
COVID-19 Updates:
Our students and staff are adjusting well to a mask-optional environment. As always, we ask that you reach out to the appropriate Main Office if you have any questions or concerns regarding mask-wearing in our schools.
As part of our funding linked to the American Rescue Plan, we are required to seek public input regarding our in-person learning plan. We will seek input again, prior to the end of this school year. This form will be available for your input until 3.30.22.
With our community infection-rate level remaining in the low/green zone, we are in excellent shape as a county. The best thing that we can do at this point is to remain home if you are sick.
That is all for now WG! Have an excellent weekend!
Go Senecas!
Respectfully,
Kai D’Alleva
