August 26, 2020
Greetings Families and Caregivers,
I sincerely hope that this communication finds you well. As the end of the summer draws near, I wanted to take an opportunity to relay some important preliminary information.
As indicated in our community information forums, for now our students will follow either a hybrid or remote schedule.
Unless, otherwise communicated with you directly by the main office, students with last names beginning in A-L will attend classes on campus on Mondays and Tuesdays as part of the blue group. Students whose last names begin with M-Z will attend classes on campus on Thursdays and Fridays as part of the maroon group.
For planning purposes, the on-site building schedule will be as follows:
- 7:30 AM ES office opens.
- 7:35 Doors open for drop-offs, busses, and walkers.
- 7:55 Screening ends, attendance taken, and instruction begins.
- 2:20 staggered dismissal begins.
- 2:35 staggered dismissal ends.
Families who have opted for their child(ren) to attend remotely from home will be part of the silver group. Regardless of the mode by which your child will receive instruction, all students are expected to be part of a synchronous (live) class and attend or sign in at the direction of your student’s teacher. Asynchronous (not live/exploratory) sessions will take place at the discretion of your child(ren)’s teacher.
All students will attend remotely on Wednesday and follow the below schedule.
Although all input from parents and caregivers was considered as class lists were created, it is possible that your child(ren) will not have the same teacher that was communicated to you in June.
Your child(ren)’s teacher is in possession of their schedule that they will follow on a daily basis and will be in touch with you soon to provide more specific information.
This schedule will include core class times (math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies) and an encore rotation (physical education, music, art, technology, library, and health if applicable).
On Wednesdays, all students will follow the WGES Wednesday Remote schedule. The blue group will again participate in encore classes that they had been in on Tuesday. The maroon group will participate in the encore classes that they will attend upon their return to campus on Thursday.
Families have inquired as to what a socially distanced classroom will look like. On Friday August 28th, some classrooms will be available to be toured between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM. There will also be another opportunity on Wednesday September 2nd, from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM. A reservation for a ten-minute mini-tour is required in order to reduce the number of people in the building at a time. A reservation can be made by calling the ES main office at 535-3250.
More information pertaining to specific building-wide procedures will follow soon. Your patience and support have afforded our organization the confidence needed to plan for a safe and impactful beginning to the school year.
Respectfully,
Jeremy L. Leroux

FinalForms
The Watkins Glen Central School District has partnered with FinalForms, an online form and data management service. FinalForms allows you to complete and sign most of the annual back to school forms electronically. This product will also be used to register new students and sign up for athletics. FinalForms saves data from season-to season and year-to-year, so you will never need to enter the same information twice! You will be able to review your information once per school year to verify information is current and sign the forms.
Please expect an initial email to be sent to you from Final Forms on Friday, August 28th. We will load basic household contact information we currently have in our student information system. Please take the time to review and modify that information, if necessary. You will also be asked to review and sign off on the following forms electronically before school starts:
- Health History and Medical Profile
- Medications
- Injuries and Hospitalizations
- Past and Ongoing Health Conditions
- Emergency Medical Authorization
- Transportation Information
- Students Handbook
- Office 365 Permission
- FERPA Information Release
- Title I Information
- Acceptable Use Policy
- Lead Poisoning Awareness
- Free and Reduce Lunch Forms
Some high school athletics were approved for the fall. You will be notified as soon as possible to complete forms related to that area as well. Please make sure you keep an eye out for your email to sign up for Final Forms access. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me.
Respectfully Yours,
Mr. Rod Weeden, Athletic & Communications Director
Please continue reading for a communication from Mrs. Chandler regarding student computer pick-up
WGCSD Computer Pick-Up Schedule
Our plan is to distribute devices Monday thru Friday by grade levels and then a Saturday event to catch those students/families who do not pick up during the week.
We will be handing out the devices out from the Field House loop exterior doors, providing the students with their device, power cord and student ID badge.
Tables will be setup for students to check the devices, login and verify they can get to MyWG prior to leaving the parking lot. At those tables, we will have representatives from the Technology Team available to troubleshoot any issues that occur.
Your patience and understanding will be critical during this process.
