Good Afternoon Watkins Glen School Community!
As always, I hope this message finds you happy and healthy! As promised, we write to bring you updates on the strategic planning process!
The Watkins Glen CSD Strategic Planning Council met again on Wednesday, October 25, 2023. The Planning Council worked with the University of Rochester Strategic Planning Team to continue its work to develop the district’s next Strategic Plan. The Planning Council members continue to include the Superintendent, School Administration, Board of Education, teachers, staff members, students, parents, and community members.
Planning Council members reviewed and analyzed NYS Assessments and Regents Exam results as they compared to other districts. Planning council members also looked closely at proficiency, passing, and mastery rates, as well as sub-group performance in comparison to other districts. Sub-groups included Students with Disabilities and Economically Disadvantaged Students (as identified by Free & Reduced-Price Lunch Students). In addition, Planning Council members reviewed graduation rates and post-secondary enrollment data for Watkins Glen CSD and benchmark districts.
Planning Council members invested time to read a Perception Report and a Survey Report. The reports were inclusive of information received from district and community stakeholders. Planning Council members read the reports, identified strengths and weaknesses, and shared findings.
The Watkins Glen CSD Planning Council will meet again on November 8, 2023 to continue its work to develop the district’s next Strategic Plan. Members will use the information they have gathered to begin developing concepts and themes to be used as potential strategic action items.
