Section IV athletics gives out Character Counts Awards each year to 2 deserving Juniors and 2 deserving Seniors who depict great examples of great character on and off the field. Section IV believes at the heart of every leader must be positive character traits. As Michael Josephson states: “Our Character is both formed and reveled by how we deal with everyday challenges as well as extraordinary pressures and temptation, like a well-made tower, character is built stone by stone, decision by decision.” Congratulations to our 2 Juniors, Masie Robertson and Johnny VanScoyk and our 2 seniors Katrina Ricca and Jason Murphy. Each student/athlete received a certificate, T-Shirt, pin and bumper sticker depicting their accomplishments.
Shout out to all of our GST BOCES seniors who completed their program of study in Career and Technical Education and New Visions!! Pictures are most (but not all of our CTE & New Visions graduates). The Class of 2023 makes #WGProud

Congratulations to the 2022-23 DUB-G Athletic Award winners.
There were many athletes and teams who nominated and recognized for awards this year. They should all be very proud of their accomplishments. It was a fantastic year in sports for Watkins Glen and our combined sports teams. A thank you goes out to all the families in our community for supporting our young athletes. A special thanks goes out to all those who contributed to the success of the awards show. Jesse Schubmehl did an excellent job of running the music for the show and providing technical support. Coach Jason Westervelt creates an exceptional program and spends countless hours putting all these videos and images into a quality awards show. Thank them in person the next time to see them.

Congratulations to Carly Arnold and Otto Hohle who were selected as this year's Character Counts Award winners. They both spent the afternoon at a league luncheon in Lansing with other award winner from our competing IAC districts. Both are very deserving of this recognition.
Congratulations to our 2023 WG Senior, Sarah Stolpinski. Sarah is active in sports, this year she was on the Varsity Girls Swim Team, who claimed IAC Champs along with Section IV Class C Title, followed by the Ski Club in the winter and this spring finished out with Track & Field (this was her first season). Today, she signed her Celebratory College form to Alfred University where she will continue swimming at the collegiate sport level. Stolpinski, stated by her WG swimming coach Jason Westervelt, "always brought a level of humor and uplifted the team, and she doesn't even realize that she does it, she brings the calm when nerves get tense, and her personality stands out". Congratulations Sarah!

The Clay Target Shooting Club had an optional shoot at Lansing on June 2nd. Lansing, Moravia, T-burg, & Newfield were also present. Team Storm had an excellent showing as Meredith & Elizabeth Raleigh placed 1st and 2nd in the novice group and Cordelia Thompson (not pictured) won the overall shoot.
Our boy’s baseball team played in its first ever state regional game at Mirabito Stadium in Binghamton after winning the Section Championship last week. It was not the result we were hoping for, as we lost to Little Falls 4-1. But our STORM community is very proud of the way our boys played this season. Congratulations on having a tremendous season! We look forward to next year.
The Fitness Center will be closed today. We apologize for any inconvenience.
