2024-2025 Capital Outlay

With the approval of the 2024-2025 budget, voters have generously supported a $75,000 capital outlay project to advance safety and security upgrades at Watkins Glen High School. Under New York State (NYS) Education Law, districts can annually propose a small capital outlay project of up to $100,000 for critical building improvements. These projects, once approved by voters and completed within the school year, are eligible for state building aid in the following year.

This year’s capital outlay project focuses on essential safety measures, beginning with the replacement of fencing around the high school campus to enhance security and ensure a safe environment for all students, staff, and visitors. Additionally, we will be upgrading corridor doors and fire ratings in key areas of the building to reinforce fire safety protocols and further protect everyone within our school.

By leveraging New York State’s capital outlay provisions, Watkins Glen Central School District is able to address priority safety needs on a regular basis, balancing community support with responsible fiscal management.

Thank you to our community for their unwavering support in maintaining a secure, state-of-the-art learning environment!
